Lauren Rodriguez Shows How To Pull Off A Vintage Wedding Gown
Buying a wedding dress is one of the most exciting experiences a person can, well, experience. Most people spend their childhood dreaming of their perfect wedding look with inspiration often coming from Disney princesses or their mother's own wedding look. It is usually expected that a bride will splash out on her wedding dress, often costing over a thousand pounds but it doesn’t have to be that way.
The secondhand and vintage market has imploded in recent years, but this hasn’t flowed over into the wedding market until now. Lorod founder and creative director Lauren Rodriguez married her long-time partner Chase Hall in their beloved New York City wearing a vintage Vivienne Westwood gown. “I always knew this was the dress I wanted to wear, and it had to be vintage,” Lauren says. “So when a friend found it from a dealer in London, I knew I had to buy it even though this was five months before Chase proposed.”
You cannot blame Lauren for wanting to grab this beauty while she still could! Accessorised with custom Prounis earrings and a delicate cameo brooch, a family heirloom, Lauren looked like complete perfection. But, of course, the vintage didn’t stop there! For the evening bonanza held at Balthazar in Soho, she changed into a black and white strapless vintage Chanel minidress with matching Chanel shoes. After wearing a corseted and rather formal ceremony gown, this was a moment to let down her hair and have fun. The bridesmaids, all dressed in varying tones of black, also wore vintage gowns, a delightful reminder that you don’t always need to buy something brand new for an important or special event and that, maybe just maybe, your dream gown is already out there waiting for you.
