Incorporating The October Birthstone Into Your Autumn Wardrobe

As the days get gradually (or really, quite quickly) colder, and the days get darker Autumn style is the phrase on everyone’s lips. From beige trench coats to polo necks, it isn’t hard to perfect a timeless transitional outfit and while a plum lip can be the perfect accessory, so can your birthstone. Calling all October babies, this one is for you!

Birthstones can make the most beautiful gift for a loved one or yourself. Representing a myriad of things, these gemstones can be the most precious of jewellery. Historically birthstones are attributed to religious origins, where the Breastplate of Aaron was described in the Book of Exodus as being adorned with 12 unique gemstones that represented the 12 tribes of Israel. Nowadays, however, we have given each month of the year its own gem and October happens to have two!

The traditional birthstone for the spooky month is the opal, but in recent years tourmaline has also become popular. Depending on one’s belief, you may find that your birthstone has healing or protective power. October’s opal is said to hold powers of invisibility and protection from spiritual breakdown.

So, you either want to protect yourself or add a new piece of jewellery to your collection? Here are some of our picks for this season!
