It-Girl Elegance, The Khaite Spring 2023 Collection

With New York fashion week in full swing, trends for the Spring 2023 collections are beginning to emerge, and one thing is obvious, elegance is in. Perhaps owing to the rise in girl boss, hard-working Matilda Djerf-esque aesthetics, elevated daily wear has risen to popularity on the internet with satins and chiffons commonplace. However, of course, there is a way to wear these more refined items of clothing whilst still carrying an air of effortlessness and ‘I just threw this on’, and nowhere has this been more evident at NYFW so far than at the Khaite show.

Catherine Holstein’s Khaite has risen to enormous success in recent years, mostly owing to their wide square neck ribbed body suits which have since been replicated by highstreet and designer alike. Much like her signature bodysuits, this collection has a delicate eye for the most intricate, and important, details that make a collection feel worthy of such a steep price tag.

The tailoring is sharp, with the blazers very much an accessory to throw on for a night out at a dark bar with your friends. The use of satins manages to not feel stuffy or overly formal, although this is owing to the styling of this collection and could differ depending on how someone else would choose to wear the items. Instead of focusing heavily on fringe detailing, like some brands are doing currently, she decided to keep these as delightful little additions - The creamy icing atop a velvety vanilla cake.

Overall, this collection is versatile and possesses a multitude of different possibilities, but perhaps this collection's most attractive asset is its general cool girl, it-girl, energy channelling the unfussy styles of 90s off-duty supermodels.
